Training

The BioMEMS Resource Center offers the local research community access to state of the art biological and microfabrication facilities and provides workshops and customized training to people interested in microfabrication technology.

Training

The training process is customized to each user based on his/her needs. In general, users are expected to have a basic knowledge of wet lab techniques and lab etiquette as a prerequisite. Training covers fundamental concepts related to the process of interest, safety and cleanliness issues, and operation of equipment.

Prior to obtaining access to the facilities, potential users must contact a faculty member and the lab manager, Mr. Octavio Hurtado, to discuss their requirements. To facilitate the evaluation of individual needs, a number of forms have to be filled out and submitted prior to training.

For a list of common microfabrication processes and other laboratory protocols, click here or on the Protocols link above. New users are encouraged to study these protocols to identify which ones would be relevant to their work and also to prepare themselves for training.

New users should also read the laboratory rules and regulations (click here for the regulations page).
